Day 4

SPIRITUAL FOCUS: CONFESSION

When we choose to sin, it creates shame, guilt, and remorse we tend to want to hide. The entanglement of sin has damaged every person throughout history. Today our focus is on confession, the clear path to break free from sin’s grasp. One definition of confession is to “agree with God”. He already knows everything, the spiritual discipline of confession simply acknowledges the truth paving a way for God to begin the work of healing, forgiveness and redemption.

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends You, and lead me along the path of everlasting life. Psalm 139:23-24

But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. 1 John 1:9

Shame in our lives makes us want to continue to hide our sin which only gives it more control. It’s only when we bring things to light through confession that we can truly be set free. Pray that others would have the courage to come clean with God and experience the true forgiveness and freedom that only comes through Jesus Christ.

Prayer Walk: Those hurting from sin in their lives

Ask God to open your heart to areas in your life that need healing, forgiveness, and restoration. Perhaps there is someone you need to confess your sins to or apologize for something you’ve done. May you have the courage to confess to others and bring healing to your relationship.

So if you are presenting a sacrifice at the altar in the Temple and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you, leave your sacrifice there at the altar. Go and be reconciled to that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice to God. Matthew 5:23-24

Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. James 5:16
