Weekly Update 2.6.2025
We wrap up our Thrive in 2025 Series this weekend with Cheer Loudly! It also happens to be Super Bowl Weekend. We’re inviting everyone to come to church wearing your favorite team jersey or shirt—football, baseball, basketball. If you don’t watch sports, pick whatever team you’d like – Star Wars, etc. We will have a photo op available! We’ll also have a tailgate party with some fun snacks!
Men – this is for you! We have a Super Bowl Breakfast at the Tigard and Newberg Campuses this Saturday from 8:30-10:00am. A great breakfast, games to play, prizes to win and more. Also, our Young Adults will have a Super Bowl Hangout Sunday starting at 2:30 at the Newberg Campus. Bring your friends and a snack to add to the party!
Sometimes we start feeling the pain of overspending for Christmas and the holidays. Finances are sometimes challenging. So NCC has some help for all of us. We have a Financial Freedom Seminar at all of our campuses next week. Check with your campus for details. No cost.
Another way to help our finances is a long-term plan. So NCC will be hosting an Estate Planning Workshop through our trusted partner Christian Financial Resources. This will be Monday, March 3 at 6:30pm at the Newberg Campus. This is also free. They will talk about the different options for estate planning. And they will follow up with a one-on-one session with you to develop a custom plan—for free if you attend the workshop!
Our Production Team was super busy last week installing new lighting at the Tigard Campus. This is one of our first projects from our Vision Initiative. I heard people say they could see each other for the first time in years! We’ll, not really, but the worship center was pretty dark, and now it is a bright, welcoming space. They have some things to dial in and finish but we’re off to a great start! Thanks Austin and Team!
Also, part of our Vision Initiative is our continued Mental Health support. We recognize some of the significant challenges in our Culture in regard to mental health. So, we want to continue to help meet these needs and equip one another to help. I’m super excited that Roy Lawson is coming back to the Newberg Campus. February 19 to deal with the hard topic of Coping with Suicide. Roy knows the challenges from personal experience after his son’s death by suicide. He will spend the afternoon teaching and equipping our NCC Staff to help support and care for people affected by suicide.
Then from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. We have a Living in Community Seminar for our community and church family as Roy shares from personal experience about his sense of a loss, as well as the tools and strategies he learned for moving forward. There will also be a time for Q&A. His new book, Son, We Need To Talk: Coping with My Son’s Suicide, will be available. Please register through the App or by calling your campus office.
Lot’s going on. Keep checking on our App for more opportunities to connect, grow and serve!
