About Us - Tigard Campus

YOU ARE WELCOME HERE!

Whether you are exploring faith for the first time or have been a Christ follower for years, you are welcome at Northwest Christian Church!

We are people of all ages and backgrounds discovering what it means to follow Jesus. We believe we are called to love our neighbors by serving the community and our church family. We want to help meet needs, have conversations, and discover where people are on their faith journey.
We invite you to “come as you are” and explore what it means to follow Jesus as imperfect people. Northwest Christian Church is a place where it’s okay to be real, even when it’s messy. We welcome everyone and cultivate community by being honest, showing up, and creating spaces for all people to get to know others and Jesus.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

When people think about going to church, they often feel they need to dress nicely on the outside and hide the mess inside, thinking that they have to have it all together to check things out. Here at NCC, we encourage you to be yourself and be casual–-we all have unique stories and experiences, and we all have messes in our lives.

All campuses are gathering in person each Sunday morning at 9:00 & 10:30am. Our Newberg Campus also gathers for Thursday Night Church at 6:30pm. This is for anyone who works on the weekend or is otherwise unable to join us Sunday morning.

Our Online Campus, NCC Live, is here to stay!  We would love to see you in person, but if you are unable to attend, please join us at one of our services online. These are also available on demand. We are online Thursday nights at 6:30 pm and on Sundays at 9:00 & 10:30 am. Thursday evening and Sunday morning services are identical.

  • We’ll get started with some great worship music.
  • We’ll hear a Bible-centered message from David Case or one of our other pastors. You can take notes in your program or on the NCC App!
  • We’ll take time to share communion together—sometimes called the Lord’s Supper.
  • We’ll have a time of generosity, where you can help support the mission and ministries of the church through your financial gifts, tithes and offerings.

There is free coffee available and we will gladly serve you. There are people wearing lanyards that say “ASK ME” —please let us know if you have any questions!

KIDS, STUDENTS AND YOUNG ADULTS

We value family and people of all ages!

We have a nursery for children two and under with fun classes at all services for kids ages two through fifth grade. Head towards the Main Lobby to check in your children. You can even pre-register them here. If you’d rather keep your children with you, that’s no problem!  They are welcome to join you for worship.

Middle School students are invited to join us for worship, or they can go to a class geared just for them at the 9:00am service. High School students are also invited to join us for worship, or they can go to a class geared just for them at the 10:30am service.

WHO WE ARE

OUR STORY

Northwest Christian Church (formerly known as Newberg Christian Church) began in 1907 as a small group of people with a commitment to Jesus and the community. While NCC has grown and changed over the years, the commitment to Jesus, authentic relationships, honest conversations and compassion for the community remains central to the mission and vision in which we hold.

In 1998, we gathered with local business leaders, the mayor, and community members to discuss what they felt our community needed in the present and the future, and how NCC could help meet those needs. One significant need was a large meeting area with a kitchen, so the NCC community took a leap of faith and added a gym and commercial kitchen to the existing building. The Community Life Center (or CLC) is a place for the community – community leaders, business, education, government, social services, unchurched and churched. Each week you’ll find many local groups using the space.

We are an independent, non-denominational Christian Church where faith and real-life intersect. Whether it’s college students drinking coffee at the coffee bar, the Prime Time seniors meeting for lunch, the Early Bird Rotary Club, middle school students gathered for youth group or those with special needs, all are welcome and invited!

OUR BELIEFS

Who is God?

There is one God, eternally existing in three distinct beings: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and each possesses all of the attributes of God – He is the
Creator and Sustainer of the universe and everything within.

Who is Jesus?

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is one with God the Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is our Savior, who was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on a cross for all sin, and was raised from the grave after three days to demonstrate His defeat of sin and death. He ascended into heaven and will return again to earth to reign as our powerful King.

Who is the Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit is one with God the Father and Jesus Christ. Those who accept Christ as their Savior will receive the Holy Spirit to live inside them. It serves as our comforter, guide, advocate, and provides guidance in living and intercedes for them.

What do we believe about the Bible?

Our foundation is based firmly upon the Bible as our final authority on our beliefs and as a guide to living. The Bible is divinely inspired by God, without error, and given to man so that we may know and understand the truth of God and His love.

What do we believe about Salvation?

Salvation is not something that can be purchased or earned – it is a free gift from God provided by Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and is received through faith, repentance of sin and baptism by immersion. It is available to everyone who accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
